Temperatures are set to plummet across Berkshire on Tuesday as a cold snap looms over the county. BBC Weather is currently forecasting temperatures in some areas of the county overnight - including Reading.

No snow is currently forecast for the county according to the latest forecasts from both the Met Office and BBC Weather. However it will be cold and drivers are being advised that there is a risk of ice - with a cold weather alert issued for the county.

The latest Met Office weather forecast for Berkshire, as of 10.30am on Monday, January 16, states: "A very cold night ahead with clear skies initially. Temperatures will drop below freezing across the region with a sharp frost expected, as well as a risk of icy patches. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

"Very cold conditions will continue on Tuesday, remaining dry with temperatures only reaching low single figures during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 3 °C."

It added: "Very cold conditions are expected through the week. Blustery wintry showers may affect far eastern coastal areas on Wednesday. Dry otherwise, with continued frosts overnight and risk of ice."
