The Prehistoric Diet
The next Trinity talk will take place on Monday, 20 March. The subject is The Prehistoric Diet. Early man relied on his
instincts and initiative to survive. Sarah Lever will explore how they adapted their cooking techniques and choice of food to improve their diet. Her talk covers the period from early hominid’s descent from the trees to the arrival of the Romans. She will explain how foods were hunted, foraged and cultivated how the use of fire changed many things and how our knowledge of these times is changing.

Sarah has been running courses on the history of food for more than 20 years. She first became hooked on the subject after attending a local authority class “A Gourmet’s Guide to History” and has since extended her knowledge, conducting her own research. She has published one booklet “Coastal Food of Wales- a History” and is working on another.
The Talks are held at Bel and The Dragon in Cookham High Street on the third Monday of
the month (usually) and celebrate the talents of people living in Cookham and its environs. These are fund- raising events for Holy Trinity Church.

Everyone is welcome, but capacity is limited and it is advisable to check in advance. Places at £20 each can be reserved by phone on 01628 527465 or by email (stephaniediggon@hotmail.com). Pay cash on arrival from 6.30pm at Bel and The Dragon for Prosecco and canapés, the talk starts at 7pm and finishes around 8pm
