The Met Office has issued a weather warning covering Reading and other parts of Berkshire. The yellow warning has been issued as a result of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds which may hit the UK on Saturday (July Cool.

It comes into force at 9am on Saturday morning and will remain in place until 11.59pm the same day. It covers large parts of Scotland, northern England and extends down to the eastern edge of Berkshire, including Reading, Slough, Maidenhead, Ascot and Windsor.

The Met Office has warned that heavy rain, as much as 50mm in a short space of time, could lead to flooding of homes and businesses with lightning strikes also having the potential to cause damage. There is a possibility that floodwater could become deep and fast-flowing with the Met Office warning that this could pose a "danger to life."
