Residents at Strande Park received a letter on Tuesday from the new owners informing them that under new licensing requirements, all existing hedges and fencing must be removed due to fire risks. The letter stated that the residents had 7 days to do this and save what they could otherwise the work would be undertaken by the owner. However, without warning, work started yesterday seemingly with devastating results. One does wonder what the real intentions are in doing this.

From the Advertiser

Cookham neighbours showed up in support of Strande Park residents on Saturday where unwanted and unexpected clearance works have been taking place in the past week.

People living in the park home neighbourhood have called the Advertiser reporting that hedges and fences are being destroyed by workers against the will of occupiers.

Multiple sources living in Strande Park – who all wish to remain anonymous, and include many elderly and disabled people – have expressed being shaken up by the way things have been done.

From a Cookham Resident

CAB friend said the firm of lawyers with the most expertise is Tozers of Exeter.  A long distance away but it would seem best to follow the advice given.  Could look up Find a Solicitor – and then go to the list of those who have expertise in this area.  Who knows a tame local legal professional?

Cookham residents may help with financial backing. This is what the villagers of Blewbury did when they had the same situation with the same guy.

The Methodist Church is offering a space for a meeting of residents and other parties/agencies involved.  Comfortable chairs!  Please could this be passed on to the relevant person/persons.

Cookham Parish Council is reaching out to multiple public bodies and figures in an attempt to alleviate the situation at Strande Park.

Last week, the Advertiser reported that the park home site residents were ‘afraid to leave their homes’ after mechanical diggers appeared on site and began decimating hedges and fences.

The licence holder, Sines Park Holdings Ltd, said this was because these were a fire hazard and this work had to be completed as a matter of urgency.
