The Society has reviewed the BLP and published results on the website
http://www.cookhamsociety.org.uk/. These include the full version as we submitted to RBWM and a briefer digest version with suggestions on how you can respond.
Topics include:
1) We object to aspects of the plan relating to development in Cookham Dean.
(2) While we continue to support Poundfield’s identification as a Local Green Space the BLP would permit certain types of development to which we object. Also the map provided is unclear on the extent of the LGS.
(3) Far too much housing is proposed for the village including Lower Mount Farm, Whyteladies Lane Gas Holder and Strand Park. All this would potentially increase Cookham by at least 10% and would greatly increase pressure on our local infrastructure. Due to the BLP projecting a surplus of more than 15% we feel much of this is no longer needed
(4) Bizarrely, a 4-storey building is proposed for the Station Hill area.
Everyone with the long term interest of Cookham at heart is encouraged to make submissions as above to the Borough by the 15th December 2019.
