The river gauge at Cookham Lock stopped reporting on Thursday at 5.00pm. The Environment Agency are planning to fix it today (Friday).  In the meantime, the Marlow Lock gauge gives a good indication of what is happening. There is a link from the Cookham Flood Warnings blogspot River level post.

The river has risen only about 2cm overnight. It's at about 48cm. We are keeping a close eye on it.

We estimate that the river at Cookham Lock was at 85cm at 8.00am this morning (Monday). It is rising slowly. That means it has technically passed the trigger for opening the Flood Hub, and also that the B4447 Moor Road could flood in the next couple of days (if the river reaches 100cm

In consultation with the Chair of the Parish Council and its Flood Committee, we have decided NOT to open the Flood Hub because it is the holiday and none of our volunteers will be available to attend/have the mobile phones. Also, the river is rising slowly and the rate of enquiries for the Flood Hub to deal with would normally be small until all three roads close (118cm).

We have reported our status to RBWM via the Joint Emergency Planning Unit (JEPU) and escalated requests to use weir operations keep river below the level at which all three roads flood (118cm) if necessary, repair the Cookham Lock river gauge prepare for possible Causeway opening later this week to EA via JEPU.

Carol and I have limited availability over the next three days, but please send a note about any flood issues to this email address so we can pick them up when we are back from Christmas.

In the meantime, any urgent flood issues in Cookham should be reported directly to RBWM on the numbers below:

Contact us on 01628 683800 during the following hours:

·         Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday : 9am-7pm,

·         Wednesdays : 10am-7pm,

·         Saturdays : 9am-5pm,

·         Sundays : 11am-2pm.

Or if outside these hours call us on 01753 853517.

Currently the Joint Emergency Planing Unit for Berkshire have staff and crews on standby and Officers from the Council will be visiting key locations but they ask that we report any issues relating to the Council asap so they can try to resolve.

Wishing you all a safe, dry and peaceful Christmas,

Fiona Hewer and Carol Long

Cookham Parish Council Flood Committee

Looks like the gauge has been fixed for Cookham Lock.

River very high now (0.9cm Upstream) and there is flooding on the lower field (just past the old oak tree hit by lightning)
