“…an  incongruous form of development in this open countryside location…." is  how the Borough described a proposal to build an equestrian centre off  Long Lane at Lower Mount Farm. This followed our very strong representations that the large building which was proposed here would be visually  intrusive and would detract from the openness of the Green Belt.

We also noted that the site has no direct access to a bridleway for exercising horses and hacking. To access the nearest bridleway, horses would have to be taken along Long Lane to the west of this site Additional horses on this stretch of road would create an unwelcome extra hazard both for animals and riders

Excellent work by the Cookham Society.

This was a hairbrained scheme that probably had the finger prints of a "local person of some 'repute' " all over it.

Long Lane is bad enough with just cars trekking up and down it.... add to that a solo or worse still, groups of horses
traipsing along it and you have a perfect storm developing which so easily could result in serious accidents or, in a worst
case scenario, the loss of life.

Once again, well done the Society.
