Flood Alert

Flood Alerts and Flood Warnings for four areas relevant to Cookham are issued by the Environment Agency and published on the gov.uk Flood Information Service , as well as via the telephone, text and email flood warning service.
When things first start to look dicey, the Environment Agency will declare a Flood Alert for the 'River Thames from Hurley to Cookham'. This area includes Cookham village, East Cookham Rise, the parts of Cookham Dean down by the river, Spade Oak Reach and Cock Marsh. 'Flood Alert' is the lowest level of warning and indicates "Flooding is possible. Be prepared."
If things get worse, the EA will declare Flood Warnings for smaller parts of the Hurley to Cookham stretch of the Thames. Most of Cookham is covered by an area named 'Cookham village and east Cookham Rise', which includes Marsh Meadow, Cookham Moor and Widbrook Common.
For people concerned about Spade Oak Reach and Cock Marsh, the appropriate EA Flood Warning area is the River Thames at 'Bourne End'.
For the parts of Cookham Dean down by the river, the Flood Warning information is given in the area the EA call 'River Thames at Marlow and Bisham'.

Just an update on the flood warnings and levels for Cookham. The river is currently at 58cm, which is close to the current trigger (we are reviewing this) for opening the Flood Hub, but only if the river is rising.
This is the latest update from the Environment Agency:

This is the latest update from the Environment Agency:
Property flooding is not expected. River levels are high and are gradually rising on the River Thames as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected to continue, especially in the Hurley and Marlow areas. Today (02/03/20) will be mainly dry with a few isolated showers. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days as water makes it way down the river system. Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings and refer to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths. This message will be updated this evening, 02/03/20, or as the situation changes.
This information was last updated at 9:16am Monday 2 March 2020
In view of this we do not expect to open the Flood Hub over the coming days as we seem to be in an improving situation, despite the high river levels.

This Flood Alert has been removed. River levels have now fallen below the flood risk threshold but remain high along parts of the Thames. The forecast is for light showers through the day (14/03/20) with plenty of dry spells followed by a dry night. We continue to monitor the situation and our operational staff are operating weirs to reduce flood risk. River levels remain sensitive to further rainfall. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary. Please refer to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels.
