Folks
I walked into the Countrystore this afternoon and it was so rammed I left after it became apparent I would not be able to purchase anything without standing in a queue far too close to other people for far too long.
This is not the store's fault. There was also an individual with a cough in there, which is somewhat nerve-wracking at this time. I get it could be entirely innocent but if you do go somewhere with a cough, consider that other people might feel very uncomfortable about that; can you send someone else instead?. Or perhaps think about at least not going inside when it's obviously already crowded?.
We all have to purchase stuff and it's entirely understandable people are anxious to get supplies in. However if you walk in there and it's starting to look a little crowded, it might be a better proposition to walk out and return later. This is what I did, because I have set an absolute maximum of five minutes in a confined space in proximity to others, and even that's starting to feel a bit risky as we only have somewhat vague evidence that less than 15 minutes is 'safe'. The bank down the road has set a 'five customer maximum' restriction in place - we can't expect the store staff to police numbers, but perhaps we need to be a little sensitive to the situation here and stagger our shopping times.
Either we take somewhat paranoid protective measures or this whole thing will drag on - endangering countless lives - for far longer than is necessary. I know this sounds crazy and paranoid, but the world we knew has changed - probably for a very long time - and we need to change our behaviour now.

PANIC BUYING! It is not happening in Cookham, it is happening all over the world. A crowded store can be the worst place to be.
