The M4 smart motorway project has hit the halfway mark with the successful completion of work to extend the New Thames Bridge at Bray. The bridge is being widened on the north side by eight metres to accommodate the extra lanes required for the new smart motorway.
Continuing steady progress on the western section between junctions 8/9 to junction 12, with work expected to finish on this section by the latter part of 2020, before opening as a smart motorway during 2021.
Forthcoming closures:
26-29 June 2020 - full weekend closure between junctions 4b and 5.
3-6 July 2020 - full weekend closure eastbound only between junctions 10 and 8/9.
10-13 July 2020 – full weekend closure westbound only between junctions 8/9 to 10.
