The M40 in Buckinghamshire is closed northbound between J3 (A40) and J4 (High Wycombe, A404) due to a traffic collision. Thames Valley Police, fire and ambulance services are on scene, along with our Traffic Officers. Police investigation has taken place, with extensive recovery and scene clearance work to take place across this afternoon. Closures are currently expected to remain in place through until at least 8pm, so please allow additional travel time and consider using other routes, including the advice detailed below.

Traffic is advised to follow the Hollow Square diversion symbol:-

- Exit the M40 at J3

- At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A40

- Continue for just under 3 miles, to the junction with the A404
- At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A404

- Continue for just over 1 mile, to the junction with the M40

- At the roundabout, take the third exit and rejoin the M40 northbound at J4

If travelling from within London or the M25, drivers may wish to consider using the M4 westbound to J8, then the A404(M)/A404 northbound to join the M40 at J4.

2 lanes of the southbound carriageway are also closed, with long delays on approach in both directions, and additional journey time on the diversion route.

Further incident information is available from Highways England by visiting our www.trafficengland.com website and travel apps, or via our @HighwaysEAST regional Twitter feed. Our 24/7 Customer Contact Centre is also available to provide up to the minute information on 03001235000.
