Coronavirus cases in Berkshire now stand at 3,239 after three more cases have been confirmed in the latest data released by Public Health England today (July Cool.

The new cases have been confirmed in Slough, which now has a total of 637 (one more than yesterday), West Berkshire, where two more cases bring the total to 474, and one case in Wokingham, has a total of 588.


Yesterday's figure for Reading has been revised down by one case to 766. Bracknell still has 375 cases and the figure is also unchanged for Windsor and Maidenhead, which has 399.

No new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at NHS trusts operating in Berkshire, with the total still standing at 568.

UK-wide, 126 more people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in the UK as of 5pm on Tuesday (July 7) – bringing the total up to 44,517.

The Government figures do not include all deaths involving coronavirus across the UK, which are thought to have passed 55,000.

The Department of Health and Social Care also said that there have been 630 positive test results. Overall, a total of 286,979 cases have been confirmed.

Meanwhile, at Prime Minister's Questions, Boris Johnson again refused to apologise for blaming care homes for coronavirus deaths.

Labour leader Keir Starmer asked Mr Johnson if he wanted to apologise 48 hours on from his remarks during a visit to Yorkshire, in which he claimed: “We discovered too many care homes didn’t really follow the procedures in the way that they could have.”
