RBWM Council has decided to abandon any attempt to save Battlemead between Cookham and Maidenhead as an environmental asset and instead sees its future as a public park. They unanimously agreed last month that protection and enhancement of natural capital (that's natural habitats and the wildlife in it) was one of the four key components of the Environment and Climate Emergency Strategy. But that has not stopped them saying that it is more important that people and dogs should be able to roam across the land, thus undermining any efforts to save it for nature.
