FIRST:- YET ANOTHER SEXTORTION CASE !!!
The victim, received a friends request from someone he didn’t know on Facebook. He accepted and later that day, the person made contact. The person suggested they get to know each other better and they then started video chatting. During those conversations, they became intimate.
Immediately, the caller said he had videoed the incident and will be forwarding it to the victims, family and friends. So far, they have not said they want money and have not forwarded the video.
Can everyone, be on their guard for this scam. Please do not do, or say, anything online, or even on a mobile phone, that you would not want your parents, family, friends or work colleagues to see or hear. Think about, who is in your personal address book, your phone lists, your circle on Facebook. Would you want them to see or hear, what went on.
There are unscrupulous people out there - please do not be a victim !
DON’T LET IT BE YOU - OR ANYONE YOU KNOW !

COMMENTS:-
FIRST: The TV Licensing scam
Hi
I have received this email asking me to renew my TV licence - £154.50. I have 8 days to do this - would I please click on the LINK to pay this amount.
If you hover your cursor over the link - it does not go to TV Licensing !!
‘R’
Absolutely. Can everyone be aware and always hover their mouse over the link to see where the email will go, before clicking on it !
NEXT: An Amazon Prime Scam
Dear Jeffrey
Over the past few days, I’ve had repeated telephone calls with an electronic message claiming to be from Amazon.
Up to now, I’ve simply put down the receiver, but today, I listened to the whole message and it has to do with Amazon Prime and - the sound was not very clear - something about a sum of what sounded like ‘£79’ which will be taken from my bank a/c.
I’ve checked with my bank and alerted them to this, but the bank employee I spoke to, agreed with me that this is a scam.
What’s so annoying, is the frequency of these calls and, of course, the threat of removing money from my bank.
Is there any way I can stop these calls? I used to report this sort of nuisance call to the Telephone Preference Service and have just checked to see if that is still operating but instead of the free service run by Ofcom I was taken to an ‘independent Company’ website which charges for the service - as the genuine TPS warns!
Thought I’d just check with you as the calls are so persistent - and threatening.
Regards
‘T’
Many thanks for this. TPS is still a free service,
What is the ‘Telephone Preference Service’ ?
The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a free service run by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). It stops your telephone number being available to organisations, including charity and voluntary organisations, who may telephone you with sales or marketing calls.
https://www.bt.com/help/security/all-about-the-telephone-preference-service--tps-As you can see the web address is 'https', which means it is a safe and secure site. Normal sites have the prefix 'http'. Never deal with any personal information / banking with any site, without the additional 's' !
How do I register?
If you sign up for BT Privacy at Home we'll register you to the Telephone Preference Service. We also offer Caller Display which allows you to see the number of the person who's calling. Sign up here
www.bt.com/myfeatures >
You can also register with the Telephone Preference Service directly by visiting their website at
www.tpsonline.org.uk (opens a new window) or by calling them on 0845 070 0707.
There are free services as well as some you have to pay for. The FREE service is:
BT Call Protect
BT call protect gives you the ability to identify and prevent nuisance calls by sending them to a junk voicemail service. You can retrieve messages by dialling 1572 from your home phone.
And
BT Privacy at Home
Registers you for the telephone preference service (TPS) to help prevent unwanted sales calls
ALTERNATIVELY - you can buy and install a ‘Callblocker’ phone. These are not expensive. You pump in numbers from whom you will accept calls - family, friends, doctors, dentists etc. Those are the only calls that get through. If anyone else rings, they hear a message - ‘all calls to this number are monitored. Please leave your name and we will see if the owner will accept your all. The owner then has the choice to accept the call and add them to the list of acceptable calls, or push another number, to reject that call, and that number, will never get through again.
