Another 45 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Berkshire in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures released today (Sunday, October 11).

The biggest increase was in Windsor and Maidenhead, where 13 new cases have been confirmed.

No new deaths have been reported at hospitals serving Berkshire.   

This is how the figures break down in terms of cases for each area of Berkshire as of October 11:

Reading  : 1,112 cases  (increase of 10)
Slough  : 1,201 cases  ( increase of four)
Wokingham  : 881 cases  (increase of 12)
West Berkshire  : 720 cases  ( no change )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 901 cases  (increase of 13)
Bracknell Forest  : 598 cases ( increase of six )     
The total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire remains at 596, as detailed below:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 376 
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 202
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 20

According to the latest statistics released at 4pm on Sunday, another 12,872 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases to 603,716 since the start of the pandemic.

The government also said a further 65 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

This brings the UK total to 42,825.

Meanwhile, a new three-tier system of local lockdown measures for England will be announced by the Prime Minister in an effort to curb rising Covid-19 rates.

Different parts of the country will be split up into "medium", "high" or "very high" local coronavirus alert areas under the new system Boris Johnson is expected to announce on Monday.

It comes after the Prime Minister held a telephone conference with Cabinet colleagues on Sunday to discuss the situation and ongoing negotiations with local leaders in the north of England.

It has been reported that areas in the third tier may face bans on households mixing either indoors or outdoors, as well as other restrictions on mixing such as no overnight stays.
