This is a message from the Product Director of the Neighbourhood Alert system, Mike Douglas. I hope you are well and staying optimistic in these tough times?
National survey resultsOur annual survey last year received over 100,000 responses and I know that you were one of the members that took the time to provide your feedback so thank you. The results have been incredibly informative and useful. We have provided reports for each police force and used them to influence the development of the new version of Neighbourhood Alert coming in 2021. We also use the findings to help the Information Providers to improve the way they communicate with you.
I am sorry it has taken so long to get these to you but I have added a link/attachment below to the national results and you will find further overview maps and a link to a local version from this page:
https://www.neighbourhoodalert.co.uk/2020NationalSurvey Please help us to help you Next month we will be hosting a virtual Development Conference for our police clients. Representatives from around 30 UK Police Forces will be attending and we aim to highlight what a difference sending local, timely, accurate messages can make to members’ lives.
We have over 10,000 active police users that send Alerts each month and as this number is growing, naturally some need support to understand what makes a good message and just how important local messages can be.
This is your opportunity to have your voice heard and support my staff and staff within police forces who have the role of training new and existing officers on the system. Your first-hand experience, delivered in your own words during training will be an enormous help when encouraging trainees to communicate the things that matter to you.
If you would like to help, please consider recording a short video of yourself, explaining in your own words either how a previous message helped you and/or what you feel makes a good Alert message and how they can help you.
We need your feedback video to be about either of the following:
1) How has a previous Alert actually helped you or a contact you shared it with? What was good about the message, what happened and how did it prevent someone from becoming a victim or prompt action to prevent a potential accident or crime?
2) As a registered member, what sort of information should “Alerts” include and be about? Who do you share them with and what impact does a great message have on you and your contacts?
If you are willing to record and send us a short clip, simply recorded on a mobile phone, this will be used in training materials.
Perhaps ask a member of your family to video you explaining either of the two scenarios.
If you would like to participate, please consider the following points:
Make sure we have your head and shoulders in view.
Film it in LANDSCAPE view, rather than PORTRAIT.
Introduce yourself (first name is fine) and the area (nearest town) that you live in.
Don’t worry about image quality but try and ensure that the sound is clear (keep background noise to a minimum, have the mic/phone quite close)
Please aim to make the video around 30 seconds long but do keep it to less than a minute
Email your video to
support@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk, ensuring the subject of your email is “TRAINING VIDEO”.
The maximum size most people can email an attachment to us is 20 MB. The size is not only dependent on the duration of the video but also the quality of your camera (the higher the spec, the bigger the file).
Your phone may use the “mail drop” or other service for larger files, this is fine.
The deadline for receipt of videos is 8th March please. If you need any technical assistance, in getting the video to us, please do not hesitate to contact my superb support team on 0115 9245517 (option 1), or
support@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk.
Please note, your video will not be used for marketing purposes or shared on social media. We will notify you if we use your video clip and provide a link to review the finished compilation.
Thank you for your attention with this message and for your ongoing support and use of Neighbourhood Alert via
