M4 closed between A34 and Theale tonight for roadworks

A busy stretch of the M4 motorway will be shut tonight in Berkshire while roadworks take place.

The eastbound carriageway is set to be closed to traffic between Junction 13 (Chieveley/ Newbury /the A34 ) and Junction 12 ( Theale ) near Reading.

Highways England said the M4 closure is set to begin from around 9pm this evening (Monday, April 19) and remain in place until 6am tomorrow (Tuesday, April 20).

A Highways England spokesman said: "M4 eastbound Jct 13 to 12. Carriageway closure for emergency structures work.

"Diversion via Highways England and local authority network."

The same stretch of the M4 Eastbound, between Junction 13 and Junction 12, is also set to be closed overnight from Wednesday (April 21) into Thursday (April 22).
