FIRST: I have been asked to put this out by Ceri Evans from HealthWatch
Good morning Jeff,
I have prepared a short text about Healthwatch and our survey, please can you circulate this prior to Friday (as this is the deadline for our current campaign).
“Healthwatch East Berkshire, is running their #WhatMattersMost campaign until Friday 30th April.
The campaign involves a questionnaire, to help better understand our community across Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead. This will help us understand residents’ views, concerns, needs, and experiences, as well as their health priorities for 2021-2022. We take this information to decision makers and work with them, to make positive change.
So far, our results have shown that the most positively rated services in East Berkshire, are the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination, Ambulances and Cancer Care. 56% of participants have described it as ‘Easy’ or ‘Normal’ to access health and social care services, whereas 44% have found this ‘Difficult’.
The survey is available in English, Polish, Punjabi and Urdu. Participants can use this link:-
https://healthwatchwam.co.uk/what-matters-most-surveyor call our Healthwatch Hub on:- 0300 0120184 for help completing the survey.
Please follow us on social media (@HealthwatchWAM for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). We will be posting the results there, and on our website, in May 2021.
Any help that everyone can offer in passing this information on, is greatly appreciated, as it will help us to increase the number of participants and thus get a wider and more accurate view of the services across East Berkshire. For more information please visit:

Thank you very much for your help. I look forward to hearing from everyone.

NEXT: Water Safety Week
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) asks that you take extra care if you’re in or near water, as part of Water Safety Week which starts on Monday 26 April.
To reduce the risk of an accident, say fire officers, do not jump straight into open water and avoid routes near water if you are under the influence of alcohol.
If you do find yourself unexpectedly in the water, don’t panic. Float on your back until the cold water shock passes. If you see someone else in trouble, never enter the water yourself; call 999 and ask for the fire service if inland and the coastguard if at the coast.
You can learn more about water safety on the RBFRS website.

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:
FIRST: A WARNING FROM CAROL
Hi Jeff
I too fell for the fake Microsoft Windows scam, as reported by Angela.
They prey on you, by making you panic and lock your computer.
Everything I had previously been told, went out of the window - i.e. not panic - take a deep breath and walk away.
They put a very loud alarm on the computer and flashing lights ! A message then tells you not to attempt to switch off the computer as this gives access to a cyber attack.
Like Angela, I could not find any phone numbers or help for Microsoft, so - phoned the supposed Microsoft number on the screen and they were extremely convincing.
Luckily, afterwards - I phoned my bank and they reimbursed the money so I was lucky.
In fact the bank was brilliant and sent me a security scan to download in my computer. They were very kind and compassionate. A kind friend removed everything else the scammers had installed.
I felt so completely stupid and ashamed that I had actually fallen for the scam. The bank told to not be ashamed as the scammers are incredibly clever and could I please warn all my friends.
It did destroy my confidence for a long time, but hopefully it was a lesson well learnt.
They did warn me that I would get other scams, as they sell my information on. For weeks, I had phone calls, but didn’t answer them and continually blocked the numbers and eventually - they gave up !
Regards Carol
Thank you Carol for being brave enough to let us all know. These people are really good at what they do – if they weren’t no-one would fall for it and they wouldn’t make any money. As we keep saying:
DON’T PANIC – PAUSE – BREATHE – THINK – UNPLUG EVERYTHING !
NEXT: from Jean
Hi Jeff
I and several others locally, appear to have received automated calls from the ‘National Crime Agency’.
A very deep commanding voice, which could be slightly intimidating. I immediately put the phone down and blocked the number.
It was on my mobile, so call blocker phone couldn’t weed it out.
Jean
Thanks Jean – This is a useful reminder to block any of these calls that you receive. It is very simple on mobile phones, but doesn’t stop them entirely as they ring from multiple numbers, knowing that people do this, but it does cut them down. If you get one, go to ‘recent calls’ and you have the option to block that number in future.
NEXT: A MILLIONAIRE SCAM !
Dear Jeff
I think you should alert readers to this very sophisticated scam that’s doing the rounds, purporting to be backed by the Dragon’s Den and Martin Lewis.
It’s called ‘Brexit Millionaire’ and is a very sophisticated scam!
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/scamcryptorobots.com/brexit-millionaire-review-scam/amp/I put my contact details on their online form yesterday evening and got called IMMEDIATELY, even though it was 18:45. The agent had very aggressive selling techniques and I pretended to be interested, even though I’d already done my research and knew they’re based in Tallinn, Estonia and are not FCA registered (the agent deflected my question but I already knew the answer!) I told him I was attending an online event at 19:00, which was true, and that he should call back, which he did, at 20:15!
What followed was constant phone calls from five different mobile numbers, all of which I didn’t answer and then blocked, just as the reviews said they would. I hope they have a big phone bill!
There are no free lunches - caveat emptor!
Kind regards
Andrea
Thanks Andrea. DON’T LET IT BE YOU !
NEXT FROM RAY:
Hi Jeff,
I nearly fell for this text because we are expecting a parcel. It says the Royal mail attempted to deliver a parcel but we were out. If we don’t click on the link to organise a re-delivery, it will be returned to the sender.
The threat to return it raised my suspicions.
Ray
Thanks Ray.
AND:
Hello Jeff
I received a scam text from the Royal Mail, which looked absolutely genuine with their logo.
It said they had tried to deliver a parcel to me, but because they couldn't deliver it. If I wanted the parcel, I was to send them £2, via my debit or credit card.
I was suspicious, because I wasn't expecting a parcel and normally, if the postman couldn't deliver a parcel, they would leave a card, to tell you to collect it from the sorting office.
I ignored the text and the following day I spoke to my normal postman when he delivered our post and showed him the text and he said ignore it it's a scam,
We thought you might want to make people aware of this one.
Thanks
Sue and Les
NEXT: Door to door van offering cleaning services

Sunninghill has had these people round today, in a van offering cleaning services - so many thanks for these type of warnings.
I told them - no thanks.
