Covid infection rates have decreased in three areas of Berkshire, the latest statistics have shown.

New figures from Public Health England show that Covid infection rates have dropped in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, and Wokingham, while increases were reported in West Berkshire. Reading and Bracknell Forest reported no change.

In addition, 28 new coronavirus cases have been reported in Berkshire. The biggest increase was in Reading, where nine new cases were registered.

The Government said a further four people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday, bringing the UK total to 127,543.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further 1,946 lab-confirmed cases in the UK. It brings the total to 4,423,796.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending April 30:

Bracknell Forest: 20.4 no change
Reading: 21.6 no change
Slough: 47.5 (down from 49.5 )
West Berkshire: 25.9 (up from 20.8 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 25.1 (down from 28.4 )
Wokingham: 18.7 (down from 20.5 )

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic:

Bracknell Forest: 7,100 cases (three new case)
Reading: 10,955 cases (nine new cases)
Slough: 15,568 cases (seven new cases)
West Berkshire: 6,407 cases (two new cases)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,520 cases (five new cases)
Wokingham: 8,258 (two new cases)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 501 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)

How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to May 3 shows that of the 50,297,911 jabs given in the UK so far, 34,667,904 were first doses – a rise of 79,304 on the previous day.

Some 15,630,007 were second doses, an increase of 129,058.
