Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in four Berkshire areas, according to the latest available figures on Thursday (May 27).

Official data shows there have been a further 67 cases of coronavirus reported overnight, with a double-figure rise in three of six areas.

Reading saw the biggest increase in infections in the last 24 hours, with a spike of 23 new cases according to the latest Public Health England statistics on Thursday (May 27).

There were 13 cases in Slough and in West Berkshire, seven in Bracknell Forest, six in Wokingham and five in Windsor and Maidenhead.

The latest available weekly infection rate data up to May 22 shows increases in four areas - Bracknell Forest, Reading, Slough and Wokingham.

The Government said a further 10 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 127,758.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

It brings the total to 4,473,677.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending May 22:

Bracknell Forest: 8.2 (up from 6.5 )
Reading: 45.7 (up from 41.4 )
Slough: 34.1 (up from 28.1)
West Berkshire: 30.3 (down from 32)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 11.9 (no change)
Wokingham: 32.7 (up from 30.0)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,139 cases (+7)
Reading: 11,129 cases (+23)
Slough: 15,730 cases (+13)
West Berkshire : 6,551 cases (+13)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,585 cases (+5)
Wokingham: 8,371 (+6)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire as of Thursday, May 27:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust : 502 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)

Government data up to May 26 shows that of the 62,658,639 jabs given in the UK so far, 38,614,683 were first doses – a rise of 236,119 on the previous day.

Some 24,043,956 were second doses, an increase of 427,458.
