There has been another large rise in coronavirus cases overnight in the county, with a further 480 positive tests record, according to the latest figures published today (Wednesday).

The daily figure is down from Tuesday's increase of 605. The biggest increase - with 97 new cases - was in Wokingham.

The second-highest was in Bracknell Forest where there were 86 new cases.

The highest infection rate is still in Bracknell Forest, where there are 576.1 cases per 100,000 people.

There were also 83 cases recorded each in Windsor and Maidenhead, 80 in Reading and 71 in West Berkshire.

The smallest increase was in Slough, where there were 63 cases.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 44,104 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

A further 73 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday.

It brings the UK total to 128,896.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 154,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Government data up to July 20 shows that of the 82,793,310 Covid jabs given in the UK, 46,388,744 were first doses, a rise of 39,035 on the previous day.

Some 36,404,566 were second doses, an increase of 161,279.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending July 16:

Reading: 365.3 (up from 330.1 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 357.3 (up from 318.3)
Slough: 273.5 (up from 238.7)
Bracknell Forest: 576.1 (up from 496.1)
Wokingham: 350 (up from 319.1)
West Berkshire: 349.6 (up from 308)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 13,619 (+80)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 10,255 (+83)
Slough: 17,228 (+63)
Bracknell Forest: 9,095 (+86)
Wokingham: 10,423 (+97)
West Berkshire : 8,069 (+71)
