There has been another rise in coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours in Berkshire, with a further 481 positive tests reported according to the latest figures published today (Thursday, July 22).

The daily figure is slightly up from Wednesday's increase of 480. The biggest rise - with 110 new cases - was in Reading.

The second-highest was in Wokingham where there were 102 new cases, and the third-highest was Bracknell Forest with 86 further infections.

The highest infection rate is still in Bracknell Forest, where there are 618.5 cases per 100,000 people.

There were also 67 cases recorded in Windsor and Maidenhead, 62 in West Berkshire and 54 in Slough.

As of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 39,906 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

A further 84 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday.

It brings the UK total to 128,980.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 154,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Government data up to July 21 shows that of the 83,021,749 Covid jabs given in the UK, 46,433,845 were first doses, a rise of 45,101 on the previous day.

Some 36,587,904 were second doses, an increase of 183,338.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending July 17:

Reading: 376.4 (up from 365.3)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 391 (up from 357.3)
Slough: 290.9 (up from 273.5)
Bracknell Forest: 618.5 (up from 576.1)
Wokingham: 377.5 (up from 350)
West Berkshire: 373.6 (up from 349.6)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 13,729 (+110)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 10,322 (+67)
Slough: 17,282 (+54)
Bracknell Forest: 9,181 (+86)
Wokingham: 10,525 (+102)
West Berkshire : 8,131 (+62)
