A further 470 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Berkshire - as the latest official figures showed infection rates have risen in two areas.

Both Wokingham and West Berkshire saw their rates go up in the week ending September 17, with falls in all other parts of the county.

Of the new cases added today (Wednesday, September 22) Wokingham saw the biggest rise with 104, closely followed by Reading (102) and Windsor & Maidenhead (101).

No new deaths within 28 days of a positive test for Covid-19 were reported in Berkshire today.

Nationally, a further 166 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 135,621.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 160,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 34,460 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.

Government data up to September 21 shows that of the 93,200,697 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,644,692 were first doses, a rise of 26,989 on the previous day.

Some 44,556,005 were second doses, an increase of 43,433.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending September 17:

Reading: 264.4 (down from 275.7)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 282.3 (down from 294.Cool
Slough: 249.4 (down from 247.4)
Bracknell Forest: 189.3 (down from 194.9)
Wokingham: 221.9 (up from 211)
West Berkshire: 174.2 (up from 154)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 18,315 (+102)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 14,467 (+101)
Slough: 20,895 (+70)
Bracknell Forest: 12,048 (+53)
Wokingham: 14,859 (+104)
West Berkshire : 12,040 (+40)
