FIRST: We are putting together a big push on Rural Crime. The PCC – Police and Crime Commissioner - is making it a priority for us. Our PCSOs are visiting all the farms in this area and updating contact details and offering them a WhatsApp group, so that they can chat together. We will have access to the WhatsApp group to circulate details of rural crimes and any information we can supply from other areas.
They are being asked if they would like to be part of:
the WhatsApp group and then passing their details to the Administrator to add them.
Would they like to be part of a monthly zoom catch up meeting and
Would they agree to be part of an IAG – an Independent Advisory Group, meeting quarterly to discuss Rural Crime issues and initiatives.
We also carry out a full Farm Security Assessment – very similar to the Home Security Survey, to ensure the farm, outbuildings and tool stores are secure and well protected.
The PCSOs also offer advice about reporting all crimes they become aware of ! Many of the farms visited so far, say they rarely report rural crimes. If we are to combat rural crime, we need to know what crimes are occurring and when – we cannot deal with crime of which we are unaware !
We also need to know about suspicious cars / vans driving in and around farms and outbuildings. If we get the indexes of those vehicles we add them to a list circulated across the entire Thames Valley. Rural Crime offenders, travel large distances and a lot of the indexes we track come from several hundred miles away. A lot of this is well organised and we need the help and assistance of our Rural Communities, to do something about it.

NEXT: Last night we – from the Windsor & Maidenhead Neighbourhood Teams - attended the Community Policing Awards for 2020 – (it had been delayed because of Covid last year). It was hosted by the Chief Constable John Campbell and the Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber.
PCSO David Bullock who works in the Central Windsor Neighbourhood Team had been nominated by his community and won PCSO of the year for the county of Berkshire. As a result of all the extra work he does, he was also named winner of the PCSO of the year 2020 for the whole of the Thames Valley ! Our congratulations to David – anyone who knows him and his work, will think it is well deserved ! Congratulations David
Members of the Neighbourhood Team who delivered the Food Academy also won an award ! The Problem Solving Award for the whole Thames valley for that project !

NEXT: A COVID BOOSTER REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS:
The booster rollout has begun, and we’re looking for local residents to volunteer to help the more vulnerable in the community to get their booster jab.
Vaccination centres have been running in Slough at Salt Hill Park Activity Centre and Langley Health Centre since December 2020 with teams of volunteers supporting the NHS to vaccinate residents from across Berkshire.
We urgently need volunteers. Many of the regular volunteers have returned to work after being furloughed, so we need more people. Whether your 16 or 86, if you’re fit and healthy, you can volunteer with us!
We now have newer shorter shifts, to fit in better with people’s other responsibilities.
As we approach winter and see Covid-19 cases rising, we need to protect our communities and the NHS again. So, if you can spare a few hours, please sign up.

26/9 – 27/9 Sunday midnight / Monday 7.30 a.m. Belmont Park Avenue. A BMW parked on the driveway has been opened and searched – without a key – 2 nights in a row. Galaxy Airbuds stolen on Sunday, when the owner found the car unlocked. On Monday, the owner made sure the car was empty and locked – checked and re-checked. On Monday morning, the car was again found unlocked and the glove box open and searched. Nothing appears to have been stolen on this second occasion. Ref. No: 43210436034
