My role is the ‘Community Engagement & Resilience Officer’ for RBWM. It means I am involved with all the Community Groups in RBWM and the aim is to make Windsor a safer and better place to live – in police jargon – to encourage ‘Community Cohesion’. In my role, I meet an enormous number of people working tirelessly and often anonymously, to help and assist residents. I try and share examples of the work being undertaken on your behalf, so that you have a better understanding of what is going on, often behind the scenes that very few people know about.
Yesterday I attended two meetings - one a Neighbourhood Action Group meeting for Central and North Maidenhead. We discuss current issues with local Councillors, RBWM Community Wardens, our partners, Housing Associations and concerned members of the public. The group problem solves the issues and comes up with solutions.

The business received an ‘Instagram’ message, asking for log-in credentials. They believed this email to be legitimate and clicked on a Link contained within the phishing email and entered their passwords.
Subsequently, an unknown person used the passwords and gained unauthorised control of the victim’s business accounts.
Later that day, they received an email from the suspect, with contact details requesting them to make contact, in order to regain control/access to the account. Business files / data have been encrypted, stolen or moved. The aggrieved has not yet responded, but cannot access anything.
NEVER CLICK ON LINKS – ALWAYS RUN YOUR CURSOR OVER THE LINK, TO SEE WHERE YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE TAKEN. Often the link address which appears has no connection with the alleged sender of the email.

The owner was suspicious, as they had heard that offenders did this, to see if the owner was out. This may or not be suspicious. In the past, opportunists would stick a business card in the gap between the front door and the door frame. If they came back later and saw that it was no longer there, it could indicate that the owner had opened the door and gone out – If the door was opened, the card would drop out of the door frame – simple – but effective !
