One more person has died in Berkshire within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 - while over 700 new cases have been confirmed.

The new death was reported in Bracknell Forest according to the latest official figures published on Wednesday evening (October 13).


Meanwhile 721 more positive tests have been confirmed in the last day - a huge rise from the 464 reported yesterday.

Wokingham - with 187 - had the biggest increase in the latest 24-hour recording period, followed by Reading with 151.

There were 109 in Slough and 108 in West Berkshire, while Windsor and Maidenhead and Bracknell Forest each saw 83 new cases.

Nationally, a further 136 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 138,080.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 163,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 42,776 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said, which is the highest number of daily reported cases since July 21.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending October 8:

Reading: 326.8 (up from 304.4)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 435.6 (up from 419.1)
Slough: 375.1 (up from 365)
Bracknell Forest: 326.2 (up from 308.5)
Wokingham: 445 (up from 389.3)
West Berkshire: 243.6 (up from 236.6)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 19,922 (+151)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 16,274 (+83)
Slough: 22,475 (+109)
Bracknell Forest: 13,268 (+83)
Wokingham: 16,967 (+187)
West Berkshire : 13,230 (+108)
