I was wondering if you could post about a parent/carer group, for those caring for adults with a learning disability, which I am currently trying to set up.

The RBWM Learning Disability Partnership Board are setting up a Parent / Carer Support Group. For those caring for an adult with a learning disability in Windsor & Maidenhead.
The aim of the group, is to provide friendship and support in a safe space, where individual experiences can be shared and supported.
We want to help break down the walls of isolation and bring people together, through their shared experiences, as well as having some fun and laughter.

Thames Valley Police would like to inform you of what your local Neighbourhood Policing Team and local partners are doing during the Halloween and firework celebrations.
Your Neighbourhood Team will be carrying out patrols in the evenings to make sure people who are trick or treating are doing so in a friendly manner and not causing a nuisance.
For some people this time of year can be a bother as your evenings are interrupted with people knocking on your doors for treats.
Most of these children or teenagers are just getting involved in the Halloween celebrations and will be friendly.
At any point if you feel unsafe:
Don’t open your door if you’re unsure who is there. Use your spy-hole, look out of a window and use your door chain if you do decide to open your door.
Have a contact number of a close relative or good neighbour to hand by your telephone, just in case you need to phone them.
If you are part of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme, let your coordinator know that you will be on your own at Halloween. If you are a coordinator, please identify people in your scheme that may be vulnerable and
offer them reassurance.

Thames Valley Police and the Fire and Rescue Services across Thames Valley are urging people to take extra care at Bonfire Night parties.
Having your own fireworks party or celebrating with family and friends can be great fun. But by far the safest way to enjoy these seasonal activities is to attend a professionally organised event.
We want everyone to enjoy a safe and trouble-free Bonfire Night and are working closely with Trading Standards to ensure fireworks aren’t sold to those who are under 18.
Please think of others and remember that fireworks shouldn’t be let off between 11pm and 7am.
If you are holding your own fireworks party please don’t put your family or friends at risk, follow the safety advice below for a safe home display.
Always remember to follow the fireworks code
Only buy fireworks marked BS 7114
Don’t drink alcohol if setting off fireworks
Keep fireworks in a closed box
Follow the instructions on each firework
Light them at arm’s length, using a taper
Stand well back
Never go near a firework that has been lit
Even if it hasn’t gone off, it could still explode
Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them
Always supervise children around fireworks
Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves
Never give sparklers to a child under five
Keep pets indoors

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service offers the following advice on fire safety at Halloween:
Lanterns
Think carefully about the fire risks, particularly the possibility of the candle falling over. If making homemade lanterns, never use plastic bottles or containers.
Never allow small children to carry lanterns lit by naked flames.
Costumes
Make sure that Halloween costumes and masks are labelled as flame resistant.
Don't use flammable materials to make home-made costumes.
Keep children away from naked flames at all times.
Candles
Make sure that candles are securely placed in a correct holder away from drafts, and placed where they are not likely to be knocked over.
Never let children play near candles.
Ensure that the candles are extinguished completely at night.
Lighting
If you are using decorative lights in your home, ensure that the electricity sockets are not overloaded.
Decorative lights should be switched off at the mains last thing at night, or if the bulbs need changing.
NEXT: BONFIRES:
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service offer the following advice about bonfire safety.
Site well away from houses, garages, sheds, fences, overhead cables, trees and shrubs and always away from fireworks.
Build the stack so that it is stable and will not collapse outwards or to one side.
Never use flammable liquids - paraffin or petrol - to light the fire.
Don’t burn foam-filled furniture, aerosols, tins of paint or bottles.
Keep everyone away from the fire - especially children, who must be supervised all the time.
For an emergency, keep buckets of water or the garden hose or a fire extinguisher ready.
Pour water on the embers before leaving.

17/10Sunday 11.30 p.m. Alleyns Lane, Cookham. The aggrieved has lost their blonde Cockapoo called Bailey and put up a message of Facebook. At 10 p.m. that night, she received the first call from an unknown young sounding man. He said he had the dog, so the aggrieved agreed to meet him at the pub in the village.. The aggrieved went, but no-one turned up. They then received another call at approximately 10.20 p.m. the man said he was taking the dog home and his mum wouldn't let him say where he lived and he was going to keep the dog, but for £3000 he would return the dog. The aggrieved said no, and asked for a photo of the dog. They have not heard back since. Ref. No: 43210469197 This is a very common scam and happens all the time with lost pets. If the money is paid, the pet is rarely returned. Do you live in that area ? Have you found a lost blond cockapoo ? If so – he is really missed by its owner !
