More than 700 new cases were reported and three more coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in Berkshire according to the Government's official daily igures.

The statistics, published on Tuesday, October 19 showed there were 779 new cases in the last 24 hours in our region.


The figures also show Covid claimed another life of a resident from Reading where 289 people have now died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus.

And another two covid-related deaths were also recorded in Wokingham meaning 243 have now died in the area since the pandemic began.

It means that there have now been 1,503 coronavirus-related deaths in Berkshire.

West Berkshire has the highest number of cases in Berkshire in the last 24 hours with 222 positive tests returned and it's total number of cases now stands at 14,431.

The area with the lowest number of cases in 24 hours was Bracknell Forest with 79 new cases and 13,780 overall.

Nationally, a further 223 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday, bringing the UK total to 138,852.

It is the highest figure for daily reported deaths since March 9.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 164,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further 43,738 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 20,674 (+115)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 16,970 (+123)
Slough: 23,068 (+83)
Bracknell Forest: 13,780 (+79)
Wokingham: 17,965 (+157)
West Berkshire : 14,431 (+222)
Total increase: +779

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire:

Reading: 468.4 (up from 442.8 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 486.5 (up from 461.4 )
Slough: 445.9 (up from 432.6)
Bracknell Forest: 461.5 (up from 430.9)
Wokingham: 638.1 (up from 619.2)
West Berkshire: 527.6 (up from 446.2)
