Works on a new signalised pedestrian and cycle crossing on Bad Godesberg Way, Maidenhead (A4), part of the Missing Links cycle scheme, are nearing completion. The final stage, the installation of a new, safe crossing at Kidwells Park, will take place 15-25 November.

Traffic management will be in place between Castle Hill roundabout and Cookham Road roundabout while the new signalised crossing poles and traffic signals are installed and road markings for the crossing painted in. Lane closures will be in place between 9:30am and 3:30pm during weekdays only until 24 November; one lane on either side of Bad Godesberg Way will remain open to minimise disruption, but motorists are advised to consider their journey during this time.

Councillor Gerry Clark, cabinet member for transport and infrastructure, said “I’m delighted this phase of the ‘Missing Links’ project is nearing completion and residents from the Kidwells Park area will shortly have their safe, convenient access to town.

“Traffic management always generates some strong views; however, ‘Missing Links’ will make active travel across Maidenhead safer and more convenient, which is a key theme of our Environment and Climate Strategy. As COP26 nears its end, I am reminded how important projects like this are, that support people to reduce their reliance on vehicles for short journeys.

“I would like to thank motorists for their patience during these works.”

As the road marking works for the new crossing require more extensive closure for the safety of the crew, these will be carried out overnight between 9:30pm on 24 November 2021 and 4:00am on 25 November. Closure will alternate sides of the A4 over the course of the evening.

Finally, the commissioning of the new crossing will take place on 25 November. Lane closures to ensure the safety of the commissioning crew will be in place between 9:30am and 3:30pm.

There may be instances where specialised works are taking place and traffic management may be required outside of these hours.
