A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office across the UK, including Berkshire.

Strong winds are expected to batter the whole of the county on Tuesday, December 7. The yellow weather warning is in place from 9am until 11.59pm.

The Met Office has warned that there will be potential disruptions to transport including road, air or railway lines.

People have been warned to expect delays to their journeys and the Met Office said short term power cuts are also possible.

The Met Office said: "A deep area of low pressure moving in across the UK from the Atlantic is likely to bring high winds to many parts of the UK.

"Strong winds arriving into the west through the morning, spreading inland and reaching eastern areas through the afternoon and early evening.

"Gusts of 45-50 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph in exposed coastal locations. Strongest winds will ease across inland areas into the overnight period."

According to the Met Office's warning impact matrix, the warning has a "medium likelihood and a low impact".

While strong winds will be affecting the whole of the UK, there is also a yellow weather warning for snow across Northern England and Scotland.
