M4 closures this weekend near Heathrow and M25

A full closure on the M4 returns this weekend.

The motorway will be closed in both directions between junction 5 at Langley to junction 4b for the M25, from Friday, January 7 until the early hours of Monday, January 10.

Drivers heading towards London or Heathrow Airport are warned to expect delays as the smart motorway works return.

Work is expected to finish this year, converting the M4 into four running lanes between junction 12 at Theale and junction 3 at Hayes.

The National Highways project is set to cost around £848m and will see the hard shoulder removed with a live lane instead and emergency stopping bays.

This weekend's road closure, between junction 5 and junction 4b, will begin at 8pm on Friday, January 7, with the road set to reopen by 6am on Monday, January 10.

All traffic will be diverted off the motorway and drivers should follow a signed diversion.

Drivers are warned to expect delays to their journeys and urged to leave extra time or find an alternative route.

The motorway will be closed in both directions from 8pm each Friday night with the affected stretches or road due to reopen by 6am on the Monday morning.
