A free online course will provide support for budding entrepreneurs in the borough looking to start or grow their own business.
The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is working with the successful Rebel Business School with the course running every weekday from 7 to 18 February between 10am and 3pm.
It is designed to inspire and help residents find the confidence to try their ideas and is aimed at everyone, from those with no cash and no business experience, to fledgling start-ups that need guidance to keep on track. Rebel’s events are led by successful entrepreneurs and they regularly attract over 100 aspiring business owners.
Councillor Andrew Johnson, the council leader and cabinet member for business, economic development and property, said: “New and emerging businesses are vital to a thriving local economy and providing support for residents to learn, or build, skills that will assist them is key to creating a sustainable borough of opportunity and innovation. Offering businesses, particularly those that are in their infancy, clear, professional advice from those with a proven track record of success is an important part of this.
“We want to see an increase in the number of new businesses within the borough and this free course very much supports that objective. It’s been a daunting two years for anyone thinking of starting a business because of the pandemic, but it has also shown us how quickly they have risen to the challenge and can adapt to changing circumstances. I hope this course will give people the confidence to turn their business ambitions into reality.
“Collaborating with our neighbouring councils to bring Rebel Business School’s expertise to our areas is a great example of working together to provide our residents with cost-effective, free to access business support.”
Simon Paine, co-founder and chief executive of Rebel Business School, based in Wokingham, said: “You don’t need money, experience or a university degree to start a business. You just need an idea, some passion and a bit of help.
