Went for lunch, on a Sunday, service bit slow, roast good and atmosphere good.
Not sure if desserts home made or bought?!
All good and will go back

New chef, manager, all good. Had Sunday lunch, good food, though need to up their ordering of quantities for roast options as had run out early.
However, food was great.

Used to go there regularly for the beer choice, beer festivals and ate there regularly. Now, all changed and not our "cup of tea", so to speak. Parking not easy.

Would not take any notice of the anon reviews, I have noticed he has nothing better to do than write bad reviews of every where he/ she goes

Dear anon

The odd party in the barn does not deserve a negative view. It was somebody's 50th. They were a nice middle class couple enjoying themselves. I assume anon you're not the miserable neighbour who we hear complaining about planning etc. if you're not then I suggest you need to go there again because it's a lovely pub with an new excellent menu. It's probably one of the nicest pubs locally by far.

Loud obnoxious patrons and over priced food and drink. Stay away is my tip.

A little confused???
no service at the bar???
extremely loud and unsavoury language in the garden.
not the ideal place to take children
On the upside(pizza very nice)
and very friendly chap i believe to be the new owner interacting with customers, very nice to see,
just a shame he could not control the language of some undesirables in the barn area.
Will return, just maybe not weekends when parties are being held there

Oh dear oh dear. Popped by for a drink with friends, no service at bar as I understand a party were in the back barn area. Less desirable clientele for sure. Very noisy, swearing.
What has happened?

Nice country spot but really could do with a better lunch menu option, ie club sarnies or small snacks etc - like the Arbour - not just about eating full meals like the evening options.

Shame the quality and choice of beer has been lost since the refurbishment

why do the bar staff here seem to hide out the back of the pub you have to usea bell on the bar to call them sure they can't be out the back cleaning glasses or whatever all the time

Busy weekend at the Pinkneys, great garden atmosphere except for loose dogs running around causing grief to others. Dogs ok if on leads! Good band, pizza looked good but shame the pizza chef wasnt wearing the same uniform as other staff members, he looked a little scruffy to serve food/cook!
Will go back.

Had lunch, weekday, not great choice of menu for lunchtimes, no sandwiches/salads or share plates.... maybe add a lunch/bar menu.

This is a vast improvement on the old Stag and Hounds pub which has how been well refurbished though it may have lost its old country pub atmosphere The food is out of this world but my main problem with this new pub is its lack of the wide range of beers that the Stag was famous for for the last few years

Just had a really nice evening here. Beer, wine, food and beer all top notch. Delightful atmosphere. Service friendly, competent, but a little over attentive hence lost a star. Reasonable prices. Definitely coming back again.

Being local I have visited the Pinkneys both before and after the refurb. What a change! really nice redecoration - the horrible old loo's are gone! Great atmosphere - may appear pricey compared to Stag and Hounds days (the previous name of the establishment) but you get what you pay for and costs are similar to other local restaurants .... the new menu is prepared by an excellent chef with quality ingredients. Having eaten at the Pinkneys several times I can recommended it! Definitely worth a try!

Has the Anonymous reviewer who left a derogatory comment at 13.05 today even been to the Pinkneys Arms? In spite of his or her insinuations he or she doesn't even have the courage to identify themselves, I wonder why -jealousy?. I left my review in faith, honesty and my true opinion; I suggest the webmaster should remove anonymous comments.

Clearly efforts by a few to advertise the Pinkneys Arms with glowing reports. I assume the webmaster is monitoring source and also ensure that poor reviews of other local pubs (competition) are not from same or similar source. Its very important that there is no manipulating of reviews and that we have a broad range of unbiased honest feedback.

An up and down (mainly down), pub for 30 years, I had given up on it. Russel & co have transformed it into a great local with loads of atmosphere. FINALLY we have a true local. Only downside is we now go to the pub more often and only for for one drink but end up having 3 or more due to the atmosphere and continually bumping into people we haven't seen for years; good job it's walking distance. p.s can't understand the earlier post about being deserted - has been rammed every time we have been. Can't wait for phase 2!

I am sorry but I must have been in a different establishment to some of the other people who have posted about this refurbishment. I went in lunchtime 2 Saturdays ago and beside my partner and I there was one other person in the pub and this was at 1.15pm! I have also heard from at least 4 “old locals” that the pub is cold and sterile and lacking in atmosphere, and they have moved to other drinking venues. A friend of mine went in there last Friday at 12.30 with his father, who has been using the pub for 50 years at 12.15, they stood at the bar for 8 minutes and nobody came to serve them, so they left and went to the Wagon and Horses instead. I have not tried their food but if I was going to pay £14.95 for burger and chips I would go to The Crown in Bray, which does a great burger for the same price.

Having read the response and commitment to product and quality from the new owners / patrons I decided to take my daughter on Saturday afternoon. It was closed which I found very odd (unless this was an exception due to circumstances). Ok, it was around 4pm but in this day an age with the emphasis on a more generational aspect it was disappointing. Anyway, off we went to the Bel and the Dragon which was thriving with diners, walkers, locals, visitors, Kids, dogs and boots by the log fire all in a great friendly atmosphere. We'll be back there next Saturday afternoon!

1. Excellent beers as always, (only this time in a clean glass)
Welcoming staff and great atmosphere, along with fantastic food.I recommend the burger ..lol.
A pleasant welcome long overdue change.
Keep up the great work guys

2. Very well done to you. The pub has undertaken a much needed revamp, along with a fresh new menu. A little pricey but I must say very very tasty, after all you get what you pay for.Well done to the chef, well presented and extremely tasty.
Nice to see the pub busy again, and still with some familiar faces.

1. visited the pinkneys arms on Tuesday night, was very busy with a great atmosphere with roaring log burning fires. myself and partner sat down for are evening meal which was outstanding and great value for money, good size portions and the staff were friendly and attentive.
keep up the good work we will be back.

2. We had a fantastic ladies lunch here on Tuesday. Brilliant food and atmosphere. Very welcoming staff. Stylishly refurbished from the old worn down pub it used to be into a beautiful eaterie/pub.

We thought the price was excellent for the high standard of food and would highly recommend to all ages.21.

3. we had a delicious meal here, having spoken to the chef I was most impressed with his previous experience under a michelin star chef. The quality of the food is fantastic and a bit more expensive than a local pub, but the difference of a pound or two here or there is what really makes the difference. I saw a comment about steak at £24 but that was a one off speciality.I thought the price matched the quality. Great atmosphere, fun staff, will be back.

4. Hi everybody, thanks for your kind reviews. Just a note we took over the pub from the 16th October so the prior reviews for the Stag and Hounds are not related to us. Our bar menu which is very competitvely priced, is now ready. When we opened we only had our a la carte menu, which is the menu that people have mentioned was a bit pricey. We have listened and amended where necessary. However, the quality of our products are second to none, wagyu beef, aubrey allen hand reared meats, locally sourced vegetables, line caught fish, diver scaught scallops and a majority of our customers have come back and told there friends about us. We have been busy and would recommend you book to avoid dissapointment. Many thanks again. Russell Hardiman The Pinkneys Arms 01628630268

5. delicious food, stylish pub and amazing bar staff. A real treat and worth a visit for sure.

6. A very busy little place with exceptional hands on staff. We had a table reserved for 4 which we had to increase to 8 on arrival, considering there was not a single table available within 2o minutes we had a table for 8. impressive stuff!

I notice some people have mentioned they thought it was pricey, that's complete nonsense. If you are used to eating good food it sits very comfortably with its competition, this is no longer a spit and sawdust pub selling bernard matthews roast pork and auntie bessies potatoes. We have already booked for christmas. Good luck everybody there.xx

Nine of us had an excellent meal last week. The duck breast was fantastic. Not cheap but we'll worth it for the quality of the food and cooking.

Stopped by for a drink on sat 26/10, seemed popular and had a nice atmosphere. Thought I might pop back for a bite to eat until I saw the menu, prices are off the mark for a country pub, it's Maidenhead not central London!

£24 for a steak and £16 for a Roast Dinner - in a pub. Feels a bit steep to me

Yes we live locally to this recently refurbished pub/now restaurant.
Yes its early days for the new management; yes so far it is a massive improvement on what was previously the Stag and Hounds. Promising future, with excellent food menu. Well done, finally we have a decent local.

Possibly the best pub I have ever been to, food stunning, staff lovely ,location great. It used to be the stag and hounds but has been refurbished beautifully. We had a long roast by the fire and then had a stroll around the national trust land that surrounds it. 5 out of 5
