Review added 22/06/2016 12:56 by anonWent for lunch, on a Sunday, service bit slow, roast good and atmosphere good.
Review added 06/01/2015 13:22 by anonNew chef, manager, all good. Had Sunday lunch, good food, though need to up their ordering of quantities for roast options as had run out early.
Review added 26/11/2014 21:29 by JohnUsed to go there regularly for the beer choice, beer festivals and ate there regularly. Now, all changed and not our "cup of tea", so to speak. Parking not easy.
Review added 26/11/2014 09:28 by MarkPeter, I assume you are pulling ones leg with your comment about the anon reviews?
Review added 25/11/2014 20:17 by PeterWould not take any notice of the anon reviews, I have noticed he has nothing better to do than write bad reviews of every where he/ she goes
Review added 05/11/2014 05:56 by AbbotDear anon
Review added 04/10/2014 12:04 by anonLoud obnoxious patrons and over priced food and drink. Stay away is my tip.
Review added 27/09/2014 11:23 by sallyA little confused???
Review added 20/09/2014 12:06 by anonOh dear oh dear. Popped by for a drink with friends, no service at bar as I understand a party were in the back barn area. Less desirable clientele for sure. Very noisy, swearing.
Review added 04/09/2014 10:16 by anonNice country spot but really could do with a better lunch menu option, ie club sarnies or small snacks etc - like the Arbour - not just about eating full meals like the evening options.
Review added 22/07/2014 22:58 by old irregularShame the quality and choice of beer has been lost since the refurbishment
Review added 06/07/2014 20:15 by anonwhy do the bar staff here seem to hide out the back of the pub you have to usea bell on the bar to call them sure they can't be out the back cleaning glasses or whatever all the time
Review added 10/06/2014 13:29 by anonBusy weekend at the Pinkneys, great garden atmosphere except for loose dogs running around causing grief to others. Dogs ok if on leads! Good band, pizza looked good but shame the pizza chef wasnt wearing the same uniform as other staff members, he looked a little scruffy to serve food/cook!
Review added 13/05/2014 12:43 by anonHad lunch, weekday, not great choice of menu for lunchtimes, no sandwiches/salads or share plates.... maybe add a lunch/bar menu.
Review added 10/04/2014 17:14 by anonThis is a vast improvement on the old Stag and Hounds pub which has how been well refurbished though it may have lost its old country pub atmosphere The food is out of this world but my main problem with this new pub is its lack of the wide range of beers that the Stag was famous for for the last few years
Review added 08/03/2014 10:46 by DavidJust had a really nice evening here. Beer, wine, food and beer all top notch. Delightful atmosphere. Service friendly, competent, but a little over attentive hence lost a star. Reasonable prices. Definitely coming back again.
Review added 12/12/2013 22:26 by Diane & friendsGood choice on menu. Starters, main and pudding all excellent quality and portion size. Drink and food prices reasonable. Service excellent and friendly. Lovely meal in a great location with friends - will be back!
Review added 01/12/2013 20:59 by anonHey chaps, update the photo, new refurb etc, this photo doesn't do it justice...
Review added 01/12/2013 20:58 by PinkneysladyHad a great ladies lunch on Wed, large group of 22, excellent service, food was fab too, back soon for a re-run.....
Review added 24/11/2013 16:18 by IanBeing local I have visited the Pinkneys both before and after the refurb. What a change! really nice redecoration - the horrible old loo's are gone! Great atmosphere - may appear pricey compared to Stag and Hounds days (the previous name of the establishment) but you get what you pay for and costs are similar to other local restaurants .... the new menu is prepared by an excellent chef with quality ingredients. Having eaten at the Pinkneys several times I can recommended it! Definitely worth a try!
Review added 14/11/2013 17:05 by StuartHas the Anonymous reviewer who left a derogatory comment at 13.05 today even been to the Pinkneys Arms? In spite of his or her insinuations he or she doesn't even have the courage to identify themselves, I wonder why -jealousy?. I left my review in faith, honesty and my true opinion; I suggest the webmaster should remove anonymous comments.
Review added 14/11/2013 13:05 by AnonClearly efforts by a few to advertise the Pinkneys Arms with glowing reports. I assume the webmaster is monitoring source and also ensure that poor reviews of other local pubs (competition) are not from same or similar source. Its very important that there is no manipulating of reviews and that we have a broad range of unbiased honest feedback.
Review added 14/11/2013 11:38 by StuartAn up and down (mainly down), pub for 30 years, I had given up on it. Russel & co have transformed it into a great local with loads of atmosphere. FINALLY we have a true local. Only downside is we now go to the pub more often and only for for one drink but end up having 3 or more due to the atmosphere and continually bumping into people we haven't seen for years; good job it's walking distance. p.s can't understand the earlier post about being deserted - has been rammed every time we have been. Can't wait for phase 2!
Review added 12/11/2013 15:36 by MarkI am sorry but I must have been in a different establishment to some of the other people who have posted about this refurbishment. I went in lunchtime 2 Saturdays ago and beside my partner and I there was one other person in the pub and this was at 1.15pm! I have also heard from at least 4 “old locals” that the pub is cold and sterile and lacking in atmosphere, and they have moved to other drinking venues. A friend of mine went in there last Friday at 12.30 with his father, who has been using the pub for 50 years at 12.15, they stood at the bar for 8 minutes and nobody came to serve them, so they left and went to the Wagon and Horses instead. I have not tried their food but if I was going to pay £14.95 for burger and chips I would go to The Crown in Bray, which does a great burger for the same price.
Review added 11/11/2013 14:01 by serina leymount/stuatr1. Best burger in berkshire.
Review added 11/11/2013 12:30 by RhubarbHaving read the response and commitment to product and quality from the new owners / patrons I decided to take my daughter on Saturday afternoon. It was closed which I found very odd (unless this was an exception due to circumstances). Ok, it was around 4pm but in this day an age with the emphasis on a more generational aspect it was disappointing. Anyway, off we went to the Bel and the Dragon which was thriving with diners, walkers, locals, visitors, Kids, dogs and boots by the log fire all in a great friendly atmosphere. We'll be back there next Saturday afternoon!
Review added 07/11/2013 13:00 by JOHN MILLERN/Stuart Hayward1. Excellent beers as always, (only this time in a clean glass)
Review added 06/11/2013 09:46 by emmaj/Mark/Owner/bill/anna1. visited the pinkneys arms on Tuesday night, was very busy with a great atmosphere with roaring log burning fires. myself and partner sat down for are evening meal which was outstanding and great value for money, good size portions and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Review added 04/11/2013 21:39 by DavidJNine of us had an excellent meal last week. The duck breast was fantastic. Not cheap but we'll worth it for the quality of the food and cooking.
Review added 30/10/2013 19:01 by anonStopped by for a drink on sat 26/10, seemed popular and had a nice atmosphere. Thought I might pop back for a bite to eat until I saw the menu, prices are off the mark for a country pub, it's Maidenhead not central London!
Review added 26/10/2013 19:46 by anonPopped by for a drink, packed, great atmosphere in bar. Many tables reserved for food which looked great on arrival at the table. Willbe back to eat.
Review added 24/10/2013 15:06 by anon£24 for a steak and £16 for a Roast Dinner - in a pub. Feels a bit steep to me
Review added 23/10/2013 13:04 by anonYes we live locally to this recently refurbished pub/now restaurant.
Review added 23/10/2013 13:01 by anonNow known as The Pinkneys Arms - new pic needed - completely new management and refurbished. Great atmosphere.
Review added 20/10/2013 12:47 by anonPossibly the best pub I have ever been to, food stunning, staff lovely ,location great. It used to be the stag and hounds but has been refurbished beautifully. We had a long roast by the fire and then had a stroll around the national trust land that surrounds it. 5 out of 5
