FIRST – a warning from one of our members:
Hi Jeff,
I am a Resident of in Portlock Road, Maidenhead, several residents on our street received hand written envelopes containing a CD (postmark N.Ireland). It purports to contain criminal files/docs.
This is appears to be a malware CD ROM. If you put it in your computer and open the disc, it will download malware into your PC. Whoever sent them, can then access your computer remotely
Please discard the disc.
Can you please circulate this to the neighbourhood alert group.
Giuseppe
Many thanks Giuseppe, your road may not have been the only place to receive these. The police have received several reports from this road.
NEXT: This happened in Wraysbury, but the advice is suitable for everyone:
17/5 Tuesday 1.30 a.m. The Avenue, Wraysbury. Black Range Rover OO ** UNG stolen from the drive. The owner thought the car was safe behind gates and was unaware of Faraday Pouches for the fob. Ref. No: 43220212973 If you have one of these frequently stolen cars, you really do need to take extra precautions to secure it. Have a third party Tracker system fitted, that the thieves will not know about - and – purchase an Apple AirTag and hide it in the car.
NEXT: From RBWM:
The Royal Borough Community Safety Partnership brings together the council, police, and other organisations to work together to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, drugs, and alcohol issues in the area.
We are running a short survey to gain a better understanding of how safe residents and frequent visitors of the borough feel and to gather your experiences of local crime and disorder.
Your valuable feedback, combined with other data and intelligence from our partner agencies, will help the partnership set its priorities for the year and inform and shape our community safety work and initiatives.
Please take part by Friday 3 June 2022 at the RBWM Together website.
