A Heat Health Alert has been issued for Reading and other Berkshire towns as temperatures are set to soar in the coming days. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued the Level Three alert for a swathe of the country.
The alert is in force from midnight on Thursday, June 16 until midnight on Saturday, June 18. As well as Berkshire and the rest of the South East, it also covers London and the East of England.
The latest Met Office weather forecast for Reading predicts a maximum temperature of around 27C on Thursday. Temperatures in the town could reach 30C on Friday according to the forecaster - with the heat set to peak in the afternoon.
