Emergency services are at the scene after a person was hit by a train between Reading and London Paddington. The incident is believed to have taken place in the Slough area.

Great Western Railway and Elizabeth Line trains are affected as the railway remains blocked. The incident was first reported at around 12.50pm today, Wednesday, July 6.

A National Rail spokesperson said: "A person has been hit by a train between Reading and London Paddington. Whilst the emergency services safely attend the incident, all lines are currently closed. As a result of this, trains will be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 15:30.

"If you’ve been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat."

A Great Western Railway spokesperson said: "Due to a person hit by a train between Reading and Paddington all lines are blocked Trains running to and from these stations will be cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes Disruption expected until 15:30."

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "Services at a stand on Great Western Railway and Elizabeth Line between Reading and Slough due to emergency services dealing with an incident."
