The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for Berkshire. It is in force from 1pm tomorrow to 9pm in the evening (Wednesday, July 20).
All of Berkshire is covered by the alert including the county's major towns such as Reading, Wokingham, Slough and Windsor. Forecasters are warning that the Thames Valley area will be hit by heavy showers and thunderstorms which may bring disruption on Wednesday afternoon.
The Met Office warning states: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across central, southern and eastern parts of England on Wednesday afternoon. Whilst most places will see only small amounts of rain there is a chance of some isolated heavy downpours and lightning. Where these occur a few sites could see 20-30 mm in an hour and 50 mm in 3 hours".
People can expect a "slight chance" of power cuts, and cancellations to trains and bus services. Forecasters are also informing drivers that there may be difficult driving conditions and some road closures tomorrow.
The thunderstorm warning follows a red weather warning for Slough and Windsor who are expected to be hit by soaring temperatures today. Other areas of the county are covered by a yellow heat warning on Tuesday, July 19.
