Thames Hospice is asking people to contact the community team for ideas and a free fundraising pack featuring bunting, a collection box, balloons and an event poster.

The Coronation of The King and Queen Consort is set to take place on the weekend of May 7.

The Big Lunch is a nationwide initiative of ‘celebration and friendship’, bringing people together to ‘boost community spirit, reduce loneliness and support charities and good causes’.

Claire Redrup, head of community and events at Thames Hospice, said: “We are deeply proud of our long-held association with The Royal Family, from the moment we welcomed our first patients more than 36 years ago.

“We are only able to provide our services free of charge to all those who need us thanks to the generosity of our local community, and we really hope our community will respond by supporting us and hosting a Big Lunch, whilst celebrating the Coronation with neighbours, friends and family, sharing food and fun together.”

She added: “It’s the King and Queen Consort’s wish that people come together to support a good cause.

"By hosting a Big Lunch in aid of Thames Hospice, you could help our patients make their own coronation memories.”
