The organisers of this year’s Maidenhead Boundary Walk are looking for people who took part in the last official ‘beating the bounds’ in 1973 – the tradition the modern event is based on.

The Boundary Walk, which takes place on Sunday, October 1, is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Maidenhead Bridge and Maidenhead. It sees hundreds of walkers raising thousands of pounds for charity as they retrace the 13-mile route of the old Maidenhead Borough.

Revived as an annual event in 1982, the Boundary Walk is based on a much older tradition that stretches back to the granting of the charter which brought the Borough of Maidenhead into being in 1582.
