Work on a new crossing for pedestrians and cyclists across a busy road in Maidenhead is set to begin at the end of the month.

The new crossing across the A4 St Cloud Way will link Maidenhead town centre with homes in the north of the town.

The toucan crossing will connect the new St Cloud Way development at the former Ten Pin Bowling and Magnet Leisure Centre sites, as well as other properties situated north of St Cloud Way with the town centre.

This will provide a link between Holmanleaze and the Hines Meadow car park.

Work is set to start on Wednesday, August 30 and will last for approximately six weeks.

The project is part of the council’s investments into active travel and healthy travel choices in the town, encouraging people to walk and cycle to and from the town centre.

The new crossing replaces the overhead footbridge on St Cloud Way, which was demolished in 2022, and provides another option for cyclists and walkers using the Missing Links route at the nearby Town Moor, which was completed recently.

The existing subway under St Cloud Way nearby will remain.
