SCAM CALL - a young man purchased an Apple Laptop, offered for sale on Gumtree and travelled down from Norfolk with the cash to buy it. When he arrived the person selling it was outside a house waiting with it still shrink wrapped in its box, as brand new.
She took the cash and made an excuse to leave immediately.
On his way back, he opened the box…….to find no laptop ! The box had been filled with flour and plastic, to give it some weight. He immediately went back to search for the woman but no-one was found. He then reported it to the police.
The police carried out an area search and one local resident had CCTV which showed the woman making off down a driveway into a garden and over the fence. She was located and been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
