Creating a new vision for Maidenhead town centre

Residents will be able to help shape a new vision for Maidenhead town centre as work begins on the project alongside newly appointed JTP Architects.
With several regeneration projects underway, and a number in the pipeline, it’s important that a vision for the future of Maidenhead town centre is created to ensure the town continues to develop and meet the needs of residents now and in the future. Working alongside JTP Architects, who are also working on the Nicholsons Shopping Centre development, the new vision will help to promote, guide and direct future change in the town.
Cllr Samantha Rayner, deputy leader of the Royal Borough said: “Maidenhead is developing at rapid pace so it only seems right that we look to create a new vision for the town during this time of transformation. It’s vital that residents and local visitors give their thoughts on the vision for Maidenhead and help us build a town that works for everyone.”
JTP Architects have been appointed to lead the work and are already familiar with the town centre through their work on the Nicholsons Shopping Centre project. They have a wealth of experience in developing visions and strategies for towns and cities including projects such as the Battersea Power Station redevelopment and Hungate in York.
Cllr Rayner continued: “JTP Architects are experienced in creating ambitious, modern and thoughtful community visions that benefit residents and businesses. I am thrilled they will be leading the Maidenhead vision and look forward to seeing the end result.”
The new vision for Maidenhead will help guide a number of other future areas of work including updating the transport and parking strategies and future public realm design standards. The vision will also look to describe and illustrate the future of Maidenhead town centre and inform developers about the expectations and aspirations of the community.
The work for a new vision for Maidenhead Town Centre will begin at the Maidenhead regeneration sessions held this week on Friday 13 September 1pm until 6pm and Saturday 14 September 10am – 4pm in the former Next unit at the Nicholsons Shopping Centre, where the JTP Architects team will be on hand to speak to residents.
