Sorry no message on Wednesday, I have been busy preparing for the Food Academy, which starts next week.  We have 12 young students, coming in for 3 hours each week, to work with us and all the youth agencies in the Borough for a very intensive cooking course.  The aim is to pressure them and teach them how to be members of a team, to work with other people to produce something and step in to help someone, if they are experiencing problems - without being asked to do so.  They will have to cook a 4 course haute cuisine Banquet for 80 VIP guests, by the end of November, so really strict discipline, listening to instructions and then carrying them out, is essential.  A lot of this is new to them and it does take them a week or so, to understand, why obeying instructions, can be to their advantage.

I also attended the ‘Fashion Academy’ last night - same concept, but aimed at young people, who have no interest in cooking.  They are preparing and re-purposing clothes, for a catwalk show, at the Food Academy Banquet.  I am Liaising with both the Windsor Girls School and the Windsor College, who both run A level Fashion courses, for their students to be part of the catwalk show.

It is amazing to see the students on their first night, apprehensive and unsure, and then on the final night, when they proudly walk on their own, through, a room filled  with 80 cheering and clapping, well fed and entertained guests, to collect their certificates.
