We have been asked by multiple people for advice around Scams linked to Covid-19. So here are a few simple steps that can be taken to help keep each other safe.
Watch out for scam messages:
Don’t click on the links or attachments in suspicious emails, and never respond to unsolicited messages and calls that ask for your personal or financial details.

Shopping online:
If you’re making a purchase from a company or person you don’t know and trust, carry out some research first, and ask a friend or family member for advice before completing the purchase. If you decide to go ahead with the purchase, use a credit card if you have one, as most major credit card providers insure online purchases.

Social Media/offers of help
Do not advertise where vulnerable people live. Community offers of help are a fantastic idea but please make sure you know who you are dealing with. If you need help please try to get this from friends & family. If you accept help from a well-wishing volunteer please make sure to check their identity and if possible ask someone for a second opinion. Do not give away personal information, including bank cards, PIN numbers or passwords. No one should ask you for payment. We also advise not to buy from door to door sellers.

For more information please visit the action fraud website:

As always, if you or someone you know has experienced any suspicious behaviour, contact police on our non-emergency number 101. If immediate need of assistance please call 999.
