The number of COVID-19 deaths at Berkshire NHS trust hospitals has risen to 479.

The latest figures released on Tuesday (May 12) reveal there have been a further three deaths recorded at trusts which operate Berkshire hospitals over the past 24 hours.

The number of confirmed cases in Berkshire now stands at 2,249, as of 4pm on Tuesday (May 12).

Reading has the highest number of recorded cases in the county, with 543 patients testing positive. Slough now has 434 cases - the second highest.

Elsewhere, 345 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in West Berkshire, 418 in Wokingham, 274 in Windsor and Maidenhead, and 234 in Bracknell.

Here's a breakdown of the latest recorded death figures from NHS England on Monday (May 12) for each hospital trust:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust – 307 (increase of one)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust – 158 (increase of one)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - 14 (increase of one)

Nationally, as of 9am 12 May, there have been 2,007,146 tests, with 85,293 tests on 11 May.

A total of 1,460,517 people have been tested of which 226,463 tested positive.

As of 5pm on 11 May, of those tested positive for coronavirus, across all settings, 32,692 have sadly died.

Latest figures reveal there were 8,312 coronavirus-related care home deaths registered up to May 1 in England and Wales.

The Office for National Statistics said he number of deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK has now passed 40,000, according to the latest available data.

The total includes new figures published on Tuesday by the Office for National Statistics.

These figures show that 35,044 deaths involving Covid-19 occurred in England and Wales up to May 1 (and had been registered up to May 9).
