New coronavirus cases recorded in two areas of Berkshire

There have been two new coronavirus infections recorded in Berkshire in the past 24 hours - but one area saw its number of cases fall.

Across the UK, there are now 307,184 lab-confirmed cases and 46,364 people have passed away after testing positive.

This represents an increase of 892 and 65 respectively over the same time period.

In Berkshire, further cases have been recorded in Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead, according to figures released today (August 5).

But Reading saw its total decrease by one, from 806 on Tuesday to 805 today. This is because figures can be adjusted by Public Health England at a later date.

The total number of cases in the county now stands at 3,406.

No new deaths have been reported and the total remains at 571 across Berkshire NHS trusts.

Reading : 805 cases (decrease of one)
Slough : 679 cases ( increase of one )
Wokingham : 608 cases (no change)
West Berkshire : 498 cases (no change)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 424 cases ( increase of one )
Bracknell Forest : 391 cases (no increase)

Bereaved families who lost loved ones to Covid-19 feel they are being "swept under the carpet" by the Government, MPs have heard today.

Grieving family members said they have written three times to the Prime Minister asking to meet and share their experiences.

But they told the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on coronavirus officials were unable to meet "due to the current pandemic".
