The number of coronavirus cases recorded in Berkshire has risen by ten in the past 24 hours, according to figures released by Public Health England today (August 10).

Across the UK, the death toll stands at 46,526 and 311,641 people have now tested positive for Covid-19.

This represents an increase of 21 and 816 respectively over the same time period.

In Berkshire, the total number of cases now stands at 3,448.

The largest number of new cases was recorded in Slough - where there was a rise of five.

An increase of four was recorded in Reading, with one additional case in Wokingham.

It is important to note that this data can change and positive test results can be backdated to the day the test was carried out.

Cumulative counts can occasionally go down from one day to the next, which can include previously recorded cases which have been discounted.

No new deaths have been reported and the total remains at 572 across Berkshire NHS trusts.

This is the latest breakdown of cases per area:

Reading  : 812 cases (  increase of four   )
Slough  : 702 cases (  increase of five )
Wokingham  : 612 cases (  increase of one )
West Berkshire  : 500 cases ( no change )
Windsor  and Maidenhead: 431 cases ( no change  )
Bracknell Forest  : 391 cases ( no change )
For a breakdown of coronavirus deaths recorded by Berkshire NHS trusts since the start of the pandemic, please see below:

People who have been in contact with confirmed coronavirus cases may get a knock on their door if tracers are unable to reach them over the phone, it was confirmed today.

Health officials have announced plans to strengthen regional test and trace powers in England.

In pilot schemes, this has meant that local authorities have been able to visit people at homes where national contact tracers have been unable to reach them.

It comes after criticism that the national system was not tapping into local knowledge.

Now NHS Test and Trace will provide local authorities across England with a dedicated team of contact tracers for local areas.
