Just one Berkshire area hasn't recorded any new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, according to figures released by Public Health England today (August 20).

There have been 11 further cases of coronavirus recorded in Berkshire - with only Bracknell Forest's reported cases remaining the same as on August 19.

Reading, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead have all seen increases of three cases each, while Wokingham and West Berkshire have each had one new positive.

Across the UK, the death toll stands at 41,403 and 322,280 people have now tested positive for Covid-19.

This represents an increase of six and 1,182 respectively over the same time period.

In Berkshire, the number of positive tests now stands at 3,544.

The total number of deaths at Berkshire NHS trusts is 573, as detailed below:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 365
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 188
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 20

Less than two-thirds (60.5%) of people who were tested for Covid-19 in the week ending August 12 at a regional site or mobile testing unit – a so-called “in-person” test – received their result within 24 hours.

This is down from 70.3% in the previous week and the 92.7% in the week to July 1.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson had pledged that, by the end of June, the results of all in-person tests would be back within 24 hours.

He told the House of Commons on June 3 he would get “all tests turned around within 24 hours by the end of June, except for difficulties with postal tests or insuperable problems like that”.
