The coronavirus infection rate has risen in five of Berkshire's six areas in a week.

The latest government figures reveal one area saw its infection rate almost double, while another area where the rate had previously increased, has fallen.

Wokingham saw an increase in the rate of coronavirus infections from 5.8 in the week leading to August 24, to 10.5 in the week leading to Monday, August 31.

There were 18 new cases in the seven days before August 31.

Meanwhile, in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, the infection rate has gone down.

There were 35 new cases in the area in the seven days leading to Monday, August 24.

But in the seven days to August 31, 20 new cases were recorded, meaning the infection rate dropped from 23.1 to 13.2.

It had previously doubled.
